Why I chose To Do This Artist!!!!!!

I chose to do this blog about Genevieve Gauckler because I like her artwork a lot because it shows creativity and surrealism in her work. When I say this is that her art works looks like it came from a dream and was interpreted by a dream. Her works has a modern time feeling to it because of the graphics it shows and by the typography that she uses with it.  Her artwork has a representational feeling to it because the art she creates feels that it represents something without it showing what it really represents.  For example there is an image by Genevieve Gauckler that is a representational of a coke bottle that is in form of a tree and the message it was giving was to enjoy life like you would enjoy the taste of a coke.  This is an example of a representational abstract image where something is abstract but is noticeable. The kind of art that she does has an advertisement feeling to it as well because it conveys a message and that it shows emotion and motion. For example this one picture also by Genevieve Gauckler and that it conveys a message and it shows emotion and motion at the same time. The picture shows a graphic feel to it as a two-dimensional feel to it but also has a three-dimensional feel to it as well. It conveys a message of traveling, safety, racing, music and life itself. It has a retro feel to it based on the color and based on its texture, shapes, and form. Genevieve Gauckler creates art that blends them into everyday life scenes and turns the fantastical world into reality and has a taste for simple color and shapes that create images and shapes with emotion and innocence. She gets her inspiration from her past history and works including her education to help her come up with new ideas for her artworks or for her many other works such as videos, books, and even for magazines. She uses her ideas to create creative art that blends in with society and tells a story.

Genevieve Gauckler

The artist I have chosen for my project is Genevieve Gauckler because the ways her art is presented is as a graphic designer and as a graphic designer I really appreciate her works and how she presents her artwork. “Born in 1967 in Lyon, France Genevieve Gauckler is a Paris based artist who creates numerous characters and blends them into everyday life scenes and turns the fantastical world into reality” (http://www.g2works.com/). She likes to use simple colors, shapes and likes controlling and creating images and shapes with emotion and innocence.
“Genevieve has been focusing on videos, art, illustrations for various magazines and books, character design, comic book, and animated title sequences. She has two published books about her work”   (http://www.g2works.com/).
Her art works is sometimes considered abstract. When I look at it because some time it takes a while for me to understand the concept of the artwork before getting to know the true meaning of it. The way she creates her artworks is that it has a carefree vibe to it meaning that to me that every aspect of the artwork doesn’t have a purpose and is just there. Her artwork has color and balance to it and has a graphic theme to it.
Her artworks has many different elements and principles that tents to appear in the artworks, for example line because line pertains to the use of various marks, outlines and implied lines in artwork and design, most often used to define shape in two-dimensional work. Another element that her works contain is shape and or form because the tone, texture and color give depth and perception to her style of art. The element of color is important because the way she uses color such as primary color and secondary color to show emphasis and value which is another element that pertain to her artwork. The way she uses value it the way she uses black and white to contrast light and dark and shading as well.
Besides elements Gauckler shows principles of art. The first principle she uses is harmony in her artwork because it gives an uncomplicated look and makes everything come together. Her artworks contain balance because the artwork has a symmetrical, asymmetrical, and radial feeling to it. What I mean to this is that there is not one element in the artwork that overpowers another elements. It has variety because it contains different types and forms of color, size, contrast and visual.  It Shows movement because the way she presents her artwork it a way that emphasize movement like a wave. She also shows movement through the use of line in her work.
